In this week’s real-time analytics news: AWS announced the general availability of AWS IoT TwinMaker, which helps developers build digital twins of real-world systems by integrating data from multiple sources and combining that data to create a knowledge graph that models the real-world environment.

Keeping pace with news and developments in the real-time analytics market can be a daunting task. We want to help by providing a summary of some of the important news items our staff came across this week. Here is our list:

Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced the general availability of AWS IoT TwinMaker, a new service that makes it faster and easier for developers to create digital twins of real-world systems like buildings, factories, industrial equipment, and production lines. AWS IoT TwinMaker makes it easy for developers to integrate data from multiple sources like equipment sensors, video cameras, and business applications—and combines that data to create a knowledge graph that models the real-world environment. There are no upfront commitments or fees to use AWS IoT TwinMaker, and customers only pay for accessing the data used to build and operate digital twins.

IBM announced the newest version of its API security gateway for business and IT automation, the IBM DataPower Gateway X3. The new X3 is designed to extend IBM DataPower’s capabilities with improved performance, security, and usability features. IBM DataPower Gateway X3 equips businesses with an application gateway to protect, control, optimize, integrate, and automate their modern, traditional, and hybrid cloud workloads. The appliance provides the security features for IBM Cloud Pak for Integration, which enable businesses to embrace AI-powered automation to integrate business and IT services across the enterprise. 

BangDB has launched a converged database platform (Ampere) on cloud. BangDB is a high-performance database suitable for modern applications that require predictive real-time analysis for fast-moving data from devices, sensors, and machines. By bringing AI, stream processing, graph, and the database together in a single product, BangDB has created a modern stack for the data analysis market. BangDB is designed for emerging use cases that deal with Edge and Cloud computing in real-time in various domains like IoT, FinTech, log analysis, supply chain, and more.

o9 Solutions and Deloitte today announced the launch of Smart Planning, a subscription offering that combines Deloitte’s supply chain planning and data science capabilities with o9’s planning platform. Smart Planning is an AI-powered, cloud-based digital insights, connectivity, and workflow automation solution that drives strategic- and tactical-level supply chain activities. Combining o9’s technical scale and solution architecture with Deloitte’s production-ready environment and planning-as-a-service capabilities, Smart Planning can help companies level up their planning capabilities in a matter of months versus years.

Oracle announced the availability of Oracle Exadata Cloud Infrastructure X9M, the latest generation of the Oracle Database platform in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). With Oracle Autonomous Database Service or Oracle Exadata Database Service running on Exadata Cloud Infrastructure X9M, customers can run existing workloads faster, with greater scale, and at a lower cost than previous generations. In addition, when upgrading from X8M to X9M, organizations can reduce costs by consolidating hundreds of OTLP, analytics, and mixed database workloads onto a single cloud service.

In other OCI news, AMD  announced the expansion of the AMD EPYC processor footprint within the cloud ecosystem, powering the new Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) E4 Dense instances. These new instances are part of the Oracle Cloud VMware Solution offerings, enabling customers to build and run a hybrid-cloud environment for their VMware-based workloads.

Vianai Systems (“Vian”) launched the Vian H+AI Platform, which brings a human-centric approach, combined with advanced AI techniques to remove barriers that currently prevent the widespread AI adoption into production environments. The first set of capabilities available within the Vian H+AI Platform includes Vian MLOps for managing, optimizing, deploying, and governing ML models for production at scale. Vian Performance Optimization within the Platform dramatically accelerates model speed and throughput even on commodity hardware.

Real-time analytics news in brief

Dell Technologies announced the expansion of its edge solutions to help retailers quickly generate more value and deliver enhanced customer experiences from data generated in retail locations. The Dell Validated Design for Retail Edge simplifies and consolidates edge retail infrastructure and applications onto a single infrastructure stack. With VMware Edge Compute Stack integration, the solution provides retailers a single management view of edge IT across all retail locations to track system health, build and manage applications at the edge and help securely scale to additional sites. By working with Deep North and its intelligent video analytics platform, the solution supports AI-based applications that help retailers use data insights to improve in-store shopping experiences, such as optimizing product placement, preventing product loss, tracking inventory, helping shoppers avoid long checkout lines, and diverting employees to where they can be of most assistance in a store.

Grid Dynamics introduced its new Price Optimization Starter Kit for Vertex AI, which combines the power of Google Cloud and customizable open-source components. Grid Dynamics’ new starter kit leverages machine learning and AutoML technology provided by Vertex AI to help retailers and other businesses optimize pricing decisions to improve margins, sell-through rates, and inventory turnover. The starter kit integrates a company’s sales data, product attributes, competitor pricing, and other external factors to deliver a customized price and promotion management solution that helps drive revenue growth.

Dynatrace announced it has extended its advanced AIOps capabilities for leading database environments, including Oracle and Microsoft SQL. New out-of-the-box extensions enable DevOps teams and database administrators (DBAs) to automatically surface and proactively act on precise, real-time answers about the relationship between their database infrastructure and applications. This allows them to proactively resolve issues such as inefficient database queries before they impact service availability, performance, and user experience.

Cloudreach, an Atos company, announced the launch of Sunstone, a software platform designed to accelerate the modernization of in-cloud environments. Sunstone utilizes an agentless, lightweight onboarding process to rapidly capture a cloud environment before leveraging advanced resource grouping services to profile and build a clear picture of the distinct workloads that need to be modernized. To that end, Sunstone uses AI and ML techniques to automate the continuous modernization of in-cloud applications.

Element announced new functionality for simplified connections, knowledge graph-based modeling, and advanced joins. The new Advanced Joins functionality enables users to combine data from various sources based on matching multiple relevant data fields and using matching approaches, including fuzzy and contains matching. Together the new features increase the flexibility and speed up model development for organizations seeking to deploy digital twins or pursue industrial transformation.

Canonical, the company behind Ubuntu, announced Ubuntu 22.04 long term support (LTS) version is now generally available. This release, which is unveiled once every two years, features significant improvements in cloud confidential computing, real-time kernel for industrial applications, and enterprise Active Directory, in addition to PCI-DSS, HIPAA, FIPS, and FedRAMP compliance, and much more.

FiVerity and Intel have partnered to bring Confidential Computing to financial services to address digital identity fraud. The FiVerity solution uses Intel Software Guard Extensions (Intel SGX) to provide financial institutions with a new level of protection for sensitive customer data and improved control over its access. With these capabilities, FiVerity’s holistic fraud defense platform will give users a new level of security and control over the personally identifiable information (PII) used to analyze and detect fraud.

Precisely announced new geo addressing capabilities to easily verify, cleanse, and geocode address data in enterprise business systems such as CRM, Billing, ERP, Workforce Management, and more. Precisely’s geo addressing capabilities assign hyper-accurate location coordinates to addresses and attaches a unique and persistent identifier, known as the PreciseylD, to each address. The PreciselyID enables fast and easy data enrichment from Precisely’s catalog of more than 9000 attributes in over 400 datasets – including standard data such as points of interest and property attributes or dynamic data like demographic movement or weather changes over time.

Plainsight introduced its On-Demand SaaS platform for end-to-end, no-code computer vision workflows and fully integrated features. The new on-demand SaaS platform helps technical and non-technical users alike build, train, and deploy image and video analytics models without a single line of code. It offers continuous image and video collection, unlimited data labels, automated model training, and point-and-click model deployment pipelines.

Partnerships, collaborations, and more

VAST Data announced a strategic alliance with Vertica to help enterprises consolidate their structured and unstructured data silos to democratize data for real-time data exploration, analytics, and insights. Uniting VAST’s all-flash Universal Storage data platform with Vertica’s analytical database provides companies with the performance, scale, data protection, and resiliency needed for today’s modern and converged data lake and data warehouse applications.

Mendix, a Siemens business, and Atos announced that they have signed an expanded partnership agreement to empower Atos to leverage the Mendix low-code platform to drive hyper-automation and decarbonization in enterprises. At launch, the agreement will give Atos the license to sell Mendix low-code platform in multiple regions where Atos has a joint business collaboration with Siemens, including APAC, EMEA, and the Americas. The offering will become available in more and more countries after the initial launch.

OVHcloud announced that it has acquired ForePaaS, a unified platform specializing in data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence projects for businesses. The combined companies will jointly build a set of solutions to enrich OVHcloud’s Platform as a Service (PaaS) offering. The acquisition of technology and skills will allow the company to serve an increasing breadth of use cases.

Accenture has acquired Ergo, a data-centered business located in Argentina that helps companies create a culture of data-driven decision-making using big data, analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI). Ergo’s team of 200 data specialists will join the Data & AI team within Accenture Cloud First. The acquisition expands Accenture’s Cloud First capabilities for clients in the Hispanic South American market, spanning Argentina, Chile, and Colombia.

Rendered.ai and the Rochester Institute of Technology’s Digital Imaging and Remote Sensing (DIRS) Laboratory announced a collaboration to combine the physics-driven accuracy of the DIRSIG synthetic imagery model with Rendered.ai’s cloud-based platform for high volume synthetic data generation. The Rendered.ai team has built simulators for visible light and synthetic aperture radar (SAR); however, DIRSIG’s breadth of capability and ongoing investment will provide qualified Rendered.ai customers with a much wider range of field-tested and production-quality sensor modeling technology.

Pyramid Analytics announced it is strengthening its collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) by joining the AWS ISV Accelerate Program, a co-sell program for approved independent software vendors (ISVs) that run on or integrate with AWS. The program allows Pyramid and AWS to collaboratively provide customers and partners with resources to accelerate the adoption of the Pyramid Decision Intelligence Platform on a global scale, helping more organizations to achieve faster time to value.

Botco.ai announced a partnership with Medtelligent to bring Botco.ai’s conversational automation platform to assisted living communities as an integrated part of Medtelligent’s ALIS software. Together, the joint solution enables seniors and their families to learn about assisted living communities through private, easy-to-use chat conversations and, upon moving into the community, make insights from those conversations a part of their eHR profile to receive better, more personalized care and treatment. 

Gupshup announced the acquisition of AskSid. AskSid’s full-stack AI solution, including the Retail AI brain, strengthens Gupshup’s customer experience (CX) offerings and will help make the entire shopping journey – across pre-purchase, purchase, and post-purchase phases – fully conversational. The merger with Gupshup is a great strategic fit as AskSid’s deep vertical AI expertise in retail now gets augmented by Gupshup on a global scale in CPaaS and CX.

Privitar announced a strategic partnership with Denodo. The combination of Denodo’s data virtualization and Privitar’s data privacy and provisioning solutions will enable organizations to manage and provision data products and sensitive data; automatically and transparently enforce governance policies based on the user, the location sensitivity, and intended purpose data; and remain compliant with relevant regulations and legislation. 

Software AG announced that it has closed the acquisition of StreamSets. The combination enables organizations to unlock and capture value from data as it moves between on-premises applications, data streams, SaaS applications, legacy data stores, and cloud data platforms like Amazon RedShift, Databricks, and Snowflake. The combined hybrid iPaaS platform will deliver consolidated, conformed, continuous data to smart applications and the connected enterprise.
