CAMBRIDGE, Mass., June 5, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — Forge.AI, an artificial intelligence company that transforms the world’s unstructured information into structured machine ready data, today announced a strategic investment agreement with In-Q-Tel (IQT), the not-for-profit strategic investor that identifies and accelerates the development and delivery of cutting-edge technologies to support the mission of the U.S. government agencies that keep our nation safe. Forge.AI also announced the appointment of Lieutenant General John Mulholland, Ret. to its board of advisors.

With the new investment from IQT, and the addition of LTG John Mulholland to its board of advisors, Forge.AI is strengthening its expertise in the national intelligence space. The enriched data provided by Forge.AI’s proprietary artificial intelligence technology will help parts of the intelligence and defense communities to better perceive and understand real-time changes in the world and predict the impact of those changes on key areas of interest.

Specifically, Forge.AI’s intelligent data feeds drastically shorten the data science development cycle by eliminating the time and effort that data scientists and analysts have traditionally had to spend discovering, gathering, extracting, and cleaning data – all of which are necessary prerequisites to begin any formal modeling process. Moreover, incorporation of Forge.AI’s intelligent data feeds significantly enhances and expands the scope, scale, and depth of modeling that intelligence analysts and data scientists can implement.

The sculpture was developed by a computer Snell named “Dio” in homage to the Greek god of wine Dionysus, which processed more than a thousand three-dimensional models of existing sculptures of standing figures, including canonical works like Michelangelo’s David (1501–04) and the Winged Victory of Samothrace (ca. 190 B.C.E.). “Dio” then distilled those works into their essential forms, and eventually developed a model of its own working with “the basic morphology of classical sculpture,” as Snell told Artsy. The resulting form, a fluid, humanoid standing figure, became the basis for the final sculpture Dio, which Snell created by pulverizing the computer “Dio” and casting the resulting dust into the shape that same computer had generated.
