The chief executive of cyber security start-up Darktrace will not give evidence at the multi-billion “trial of the century” between US technology firm HP and the former chief executive of Autonomy, according to HP’s lawyer.

Nicole Eagan, who was head of marketing at British technology company Autonomy, will no longer be called to give evidence in the $5bn fraud trial.

HP, which bought Autonomy for $11bn in 2011, is suing Autonomy founder and chief executive Dr Mike Lynch for $5bn.

The US firm claims Autonomy artificially inflated its valuation through by selling hardware at a loss ahead of the deal, leading to an $8.8bn write down. Dr Lynch denies any wrongdoing.
